What joy you have brought to our family over the last two years! You have a drastically different personality than your big brother Jack which helps balance our family and also means that you two get a long famously. You are old enough now to join in on all the big boy fun! You especially love to jump on our trampoline and then land on your knees on a few pillows. Every day starts and ends with jumping and a lot in between. You are talking up a storm and are able to express yourself and what you need in full sentences.
Unlike your brother, you are not easily distracted away from things you want. You remember long after your (extremely long and drawn out) tantrum is done that we wouldn't let you have whatever object of the moment you were desiring. You are determined and know exactly what you want. We are hopeful that God will take these characteristics that seem unpleasant now and turn them into your greatest assets as you grow and develop.
You love playing with friends (especially Ephraim) but are introverted at heart, often reaching your people max and requesting to have alone time in your crib. The more you grow, the more you look like your Daddy and also the more your personality is developing to be like him. This year, when we go to BSF for leaders day on Tuesdays and class day on Wednesdays, you walk right into the room without looking back at Mama. You look forward to playing with toys and aren't sad at all to be away from your parents or brother.
You love watching "What's in the Bible with Buck Denver" movies more than anything! These movies are geared for elementary age kids and we are curious how much you can even grasp at your age but there is no doubt that they are your favorite. You love to do whatever Jack is doing and your favorite toys have to do with construction and trash. Many children love garbage trucks but not many are obsessed with the garbage itself. Some of your first words were, "Ew, stinky budge (garbage)".
A few days before your birthday, we decided it was finally time for your first hair cut. Your bay hair is very fine, wispy, and straight. Daddy did a trim just around your ears and neck and you look SO handsome. Why did we wait so long?
We celebrated your birthday a few days late with a super small birthday party with friends from church and the Nguyens. The day started out with a breakfast of eggs and special Nutella toast. Daddy likes to give you a whole piece SO THAT you will get covered in messy chocolate. Yep, it's pretty cute!
There are so many moms who feel overwhelmed by Pinterest as if they don't live up to some ideal mommy standard if they don't have picture perfect lives. I've really never felt that way about Pinterest and love taking those picture perfect ideas and making them work with VERY LITTLE effort. When I searched for garbage cakes, there was a whole slew of ideas on how to make garbage trucks cakes. No thank you. Too much work. But then I found this super simple garbage can cake. Bake a 13 x 9, trim and frost. Perfect!
Our lunch featured "Putrid Pizza" which is not pictured thanks to the hour late delivery from Papa Johns (pizza chain fail) and a slew of other garbage foods. :)
Your favorite part of your party was the game Daddy had set up in the front yard. We have a vintage metal garbage can left at our rental house by previous tenants. Daddy got it cleaned up and filled it with various recyclable materials. You spent over 30 minutes dumping it out and picking up all the trash. So fun!
