One year of wedded bliss..

One year ago today, Dave and I were saying our vows, singing our favorite hymns, and enjoying our friends and family with a brunch reception. It is amazing how fast and how slow this year has gone. What we do know is that our love has grown ten-fold this year. If we thought we were in love on our wedding day, we had no idea what was to come. I hope that I look back on this our first anniversary and say the exact same thing.

In order to celebrate, Dave and I headed to Palm Springs on Friday afternoon. Palm Springs is located one hour east of Loma Linda. Dave found the most amazing bed and breakfast for us. It had a total of 6 rooms surrounding a pool courtyard. We enjoyed many conversations with the other guests including the original producer of the Bugs Bunny show. The man told wild stories of his time with Warner Bros.

Friday night, we went out to dinner at the Cheesecake Factory. We got a piece of cheesecake to go, picked up some Starbucks, and headed back to our place to assemble the puzzle of our engagement picture (seen below)




Saturday morning, after breakfast on the patio by the pool, we headed up the rotating tram to the top of San Jacinto. The tram gains 6,000 feet in about a 10 minute ride. Hello ear popping! Upon arriving at the top, we were encouraged to take in the beautiful desert views. It took us .2 seconds to realize the the beautiful desert view was code for: disgusting, smoggy, wasteland. Boo on that. The whole time we couldn't help but long for our beautiful northwest mountains with clean, crisp air.


We made the best of our time on the top and hiked around for a few hours, stopping to each our Subway lunch.

Once again, someday I will learn to turn these pictures upright.

Saturday afternoon, we took a hearty nap (2 1/2 hours) and spent the rest of the day lounging around the pool. We took in downtown at night with good Thai food and lots of crazy people watching.

This morning we exchanged gifts:
For Dave: an hour massage at an Aveda spa and a license to splurge on a few woodworking tools.
For Cami: (Dave is planning to stick with the traditional anniversary gifts. The first anniversary is paper) Some paper cash money to put towards a future road bike and a book about a gifted autistic musician.

Afterwards, we watched the video of our wedding. It was amazing to relive that day and celebrate again together. We were amazed at what a wonderful job our friend Pastor Ben did with the service and how glad we were to have had a choir sing. It made me miss my friend Kira terribly whom I haven't seen since that day one year ago. It made us laugh when the sound guy messed up the Pink Panther song as we and our entire wedding party walked back up the aisle to either screeching sounds or absolute silence. All in all, it was wonderful to see.

I can't wait to see what is to follow in this next year. If it is half as good as this past year, we are in for a treat. God is good.
