Miracle Juice

This week has been fantastic for both Dave and I. Dave finished his cardio surgery rotation and enjoyed every minute of it. Starting Monday, he will spend two weeks on the OB/GYN rotation. Friends at work ask me if I'm comfortable with Dave doing this and I have realized that my biggest fear is that him being around all of these laboring women will deter him from wanting children of his own. :)

I taught my last classes of the year this past Wednesday and was overwhelmed with the feeling of accomplishment for merely finishing the year in one piece. God is so faithful and I have seen him work in my life and the lives of my students first hand. We are now in finals and will be all done with everything on Tuesday. My kids sing at the graduation ceremony and that's it. Hooray!

Dave and I did our second training hike yesterday (SAT.) to the same place as last time, San Bernardino Peak. This time, we were armed with new socks and insoles (Cami) and trekking poles (Dave), but the best addition to our hike was Dave's "miracle juice". As a biochemist, Dave was always tinkering with the perfect recipe for a replenishing liquid for athletes and finally arrived with the formula for miracle juice. We were too lazy to bring it on our last hike, but this time around were HIGHLY aided by it. In fact, with the miracle, we took over an hour off of our time. AN HOUR!!!!!

The miracle juice makes you feel like you never need to stop for a break, curbs hunger, and gives you that extra boost needed to make it to the top. Nine hours and seventeen miles later, we were still going strong. Amazing. Note to self: don't leave home without it.

View on the hike up on hike #1. We avoid this view (smog) in favor of more local attractions like trees and flowers.

Creepy trees

The most amazing forest flower ever. There are three of them standing about 10 feet apart in an area with no other foliage.

On this weeks hike, we were up high enough to hit some snow.

Happy Hikers - note the miracle juice in Dave's camelback!

By the time we reached the top, the clouds were thick and they stayed that way all the way down the mountain. It reminded us of the beautiful NW!
