After Jack's 1st birthday, I decided that monthly updates were a bit overkill. I don't want to be "that mom" who obsesses over every detail of their precious only child. So, I skipped his 14 month pictures and blog and you know what? I missed it. I missed telling cyberspace, grandparents, and future posterity about the things he is learning. Let's face it...I AM that crazy Mom.
So...I'm back!
Jack is in such a sweet season right now. He is much less "work" than he was before and is truly just a joy to be with all day. He is sleeping through the night like a champ and is learning new words every single day. His schedule right now is:
6:10 am Wake up babbling
Mama gets in the shower and gets ready while you hang out...sometimes for up to 45 minutes or so. You just play by yourself and are happy the whole time.
7 am Breakfast
You eat like a starving lineman. Typical breakfast is a whole egg with turkey sausage, a whole piece of toast and a whole banana.
8 am Outing
We are so blessed to be in a community with amazing friends who are in similar life stages. On Monday, Wednesday, and Friday we have a morning meet up with our friends and their kids. On Tuesday and Thursday, we run errands around town.
10:00 am Snack
String Cheese, crackers, and fruit
11 am Nap
Jack goes down for a nap without any protest. We sit in his rocker and nurse and then he goes right down in his crib. He averages a two hour nap.
1:30 pm Lunch
Veggie, sandwich, and fruit
We usually spend the afternoon running more errands, "cleaning" the house together, or playing outside.
4:00 pm Make Dinner
5:30 pm Dinner
After dinner, Jack goes into hyper drive! He runs around the house in his diaper at full speed and burns off any last bits of energy before bed time. General hilarity ensues every single night!
6:45pm Wind down
Jammies, reading books on the couch and then "nigh nigh" time
7pm Bedtime
Jack nurses down for the night and sleeps straight through the night without waking.
Jack is extremely verbal. He talks all the time, perhaps not in English, but nevertheless, we can see how he takes after his Mama in this. His English words are:
hi, clock (gock), plant, hot, cold, ball, Mama, Daddy, Addi, Asa (Ah-sie), Nora (Norrr), Ethan (Eat), Aimee (Aaaaaa), outside, house, nigh nigh, poop, pop, flower (flor), bed, pillow (pih), belly button (beh buh), baby, bye bye (buh by), car (cah-ie), fan, off (fffff), on, cooking (pointing at the bread machine), bread, no, cracker, eyes, ear, pee pee, apple (a-puhl), banana (nana),
Jack is understanding more and more everyday too. What a blessing to be able to communicate. He does well with obeying except when Mama or Daddy aren't watching. He makes the choice to disobey almost every time he is out of sight.
Jack loves to be outside more than anything else. He immediately finds both of our large watering cans and proceeds to pretend "water" our plants. It's amazing to see him copy what he sees us doing and is a great reminder to be worthy of his copying.
Indoors, Jack loves pushing cars and trucks around the floor, building with blocks and mega legos, playing chase and hide and go seek, dancing, and reading books.

As a family, we have decided not to celebrate Halloween, partly because of what the holiday represents and partly because our church puts on the BEST Reformation party. But this year, a bunch of our friends were "trick or treat"ing in downtown Redlands so we thought we'd go. We weren't about to spend $20-30 on something that wouldn't get any use so we got out Jack's costume from last year. It was a homemade love gift from my Mom and was worn when he was only 2 months old.
Yep, we squeezed him into that sucker and forced him to wear the hood. No surprise...he was one sad puppy.

We have the world's best camera but no family pictures. Luckily, we have a new photographer friend, Anna Brown, who was able to take some great photos of our little family. We love them and hope you'll enjoy seeing a few of them too!
One of Jack's best multi-syllable words is apple.
One day as I was busy getting lunch ready, I handed him an apple to play with. Next thing I know, he's chomping down on that sucker like there's no tomorrow. He worked and worked on that thing until 2 hours later, he had finished it off. Such a little piggy. These pictures were taken tonight at dinner. Only a 1/2 apple, but still.
